Chris Bowers of Spotsylvania-based Leashes of Valor says the nonprofit has provided more than 50 service dogs to veterans — and none of those veterans have died by suicide. The organization pairs highly trained service dogs with post-9/11 veterans at no cost, offering support for those living with PTSD and other service-related injuries.
Saturday’s noon graduation ceremony will celebrate five new veteran–dog teams after weeks of training together. Bowers says each pairing represents a long-term commitment to helping veterans regain independence and stability. More details are available at leashesofvalor.org.
