With college admissions deadlines approaching, Sarah Lindberg (front), Director of First-Year Admission at the University of Mary Washington, says families may find the newly redesigned FAFSA easier to navigate than in past years. She encourages students and parents to complete it early to stay on track for financial aid opportunities.
Lindberg also stresses the importance of the college essay, calling it a student’s introduction to the admissions office. She says it’s worth spending real time on — likening it to a pizza, where the essay is one of the toppings that adds personality and flavor to the application. umw.edu/admissions
