(Colonial Beach)- State Police are investigating a plane crash in Colonial Beach. Around 10:30 a.m. on June 7, state troopers were called to the area of 687 Layton Landing Road for a reported plane crash. According to police, a Vans R6 model single-engine plane crashed in a cornfield near a driveway, then caught fire. The pilot and his passenger were from Wilmington, North Carolina. Both were confirmed dead at the scene. State Police say no one on the ground was injured.
