(Richmond)- Renters in Central Virginia should brace for what one legal expert calls an eviction tsunami. Come June 30th, state laws meant to prevent evictions will expire, and hundreds of people could be forced from their homes. The Legal Aid Justice Center estimates there will be over 700 eviction hearings in Richmond. The Central Virginia Legal Aid Society encourages renters to apply for help from the Virginia Rent Relief Program, and one official says anyone who lost income or experienced higher costs during the pandemic is eligible.
