(Richmond)- Residents in Virginia are no longer protected by restrictions that prevents utility companies from shutting off their services. The moratorium ended yesterday after the State Corporation Commission turned down a request by Governor Northam to extend it. The commission is requiring companies to offer extended payment plans of up to a year and no customers should be charged late fees. Restrictions had been in place since mid-March.
