Minimum Wage Bill Advances In General Assembly

(Richmond)-  In Richmond, a bill that would raise the minimum wage to $13.50/hour in 2025, and to $15/hour in 2026 was passed by the House Labor and Commerce Committee. The vote comes after the Virginia General Assembly approved an increase in 2020 that brought the state’s minimum wage up to $12/hour in 2023. Some Republicans expressed concerns about how raising the minimum wage would impact small businesses, as well as the cost of goods and labor.
