Northern Sections Of GW Parkway May Close During Bad Winter Weather

(Arlington)- The National Park Service says it plans to close the northern portion of the George Washington Parkway four hours before any significant winter storm is expected. Crews have been doing a large rehabilitation project on the northern GW Parkway. Major work began in April, so this is the first time crews face the possibility of winter weather. The Park Service says it will close the GW Parkway between Spout Run in Arlington and the Beltway in McLean four hours before any storm that is predicted to have two or more inches of snow or any amount of freezing rain or ice.
