DC’s National Christmas Tree Falls Due To Strong Winds

(DC)- The National Park Service says the National Christmas Tree in D.C. fell over due to strong winds Tuesday afternoon.  The 40-foot Norway Spruce in the Ellipse at the White House toppled over around 1 p.m. because of gusty winds. The National Christmas Tree Lighting – a holiday tradition that began a century ago – is scheduled to take place Thursday night.
