Virginia AG Says Education Policies Comply With Federal And State Laws

(Richmond)- Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has issued an opinion stating that the Virginia Department of Education’s “Model Policies on Ensuring Privacy, Dignity, and Respect for All Students and Parents in Virginia’s Public Schools” complies with federal and state nondiscrimination laws. The opinion was requested by Governor Youngkin after multiple debates over school policies that address student pronoun usage, access to student information, athletics, and access to facilities and activities.
