(Richmond)-Virginia underfunds its K-12 school districts compared to most other states – roughly $1,900 less per student than the national average – according to a new report. The report from the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission — Virginia’s legislative watchdog agency – also found that the commonwealth commits less funding to public education than the regional state average and three of its five bordering states.
