(Richmond)- The Virginia Department of Social Services will provide cooling assistance to qualifying households this year. Through the Virginia Energy Assistance Program — which assists low-income households with their energy needs — the Virginia Department of Social Services is accepting applications until August 15th for households in need of cooling assistance. According to the Virginia Department of Social Services, a qualifying household must have a child less than six years of age, an adult 60 years or older, or an individual living with a disability.
