Lawsuit Challenges Virginia Law That Takes Away Voting

(Richmond)-   A provision in Virginia’s Constitution that automatically takes away the right to vote from those with felony convictions is being challenged in federal court. Virginia is among three states that automatically disenfranchise residents with past felony convictions, requiring them to petition the governor to regain their right to vote, run for office and serve on a jury. The ACLU and Protect Democracy has filed a lawsuit.
