Chronic Wasting Disease Found In Deer In Fairfax County

(Fairfax)- A deadly disease found in deer, elk and other animals in North America as been detected in Fairfax County for the first time.  Fairfax County Police say an adult male white-tailed deer found in the Vienna area of Fairfax County tested positive for chronic wasting disease after it was taken to a laboratory for testing. There has never been a reported case of chronic wasting disease in humans, though studies suggest it can affect certain non-human primates, raising concerns that it could pose a risk to humans.
