Lt. Governor Supports Bill To Give Parents More Say In Education Money

(Richmond)- Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears participated in the Rally for Education Rights in Richmond promoting the recently introduced House Bill 1508, which would give parents more of a say in how and where their child would learn. The bill would take the money that the federal government already allocates to a child in public school and let parents decide how it’s spent.  The sponsor of the legislation says if the bill passes about one-third of the state education budget would be put into an Education Success Account, which acts as a savings account that parents of qualified students could apply to use for one year.
