(DC)- Metro is proposing a return to automatic train operation An automated system it has not used since after a deadly 2009 accident on the Red Line that killed nine people. Metro says automatic train operation will result in an increase in both safety and smoothness of rides. Metro wants to begin using it on the Red Line again by spring, and on all the rest of the Metrorail lines by the end of next year.
