(Richmond)- Certain drivers in Virginia may now apply to have longer expiration periods for their licenses. Members of the military, foreign service members and general contractors working outside of the country can now get their licenses to last up to six-years. The extensions were previously only valid up to three-years. Acting DMV Commissioner Linda Ford said this gives people one less thing to worry about if they are nearing their expiration date. Applications must be submitted to qualify and details can be found online.
