VDH Launches Gun Injury Dashboard

(Richmond)-  The Virginia Health Department launches a new dashboard that tracks firearm injuries in the Commonwealth.  It’s being funded by the CDC though the Firearm Injury Surveillance Thorugh Emergency Rooms program, or FASTER.  Right now, the dashboard shows the number of gun-related ER visits between 2016 and 2022.  That data shows a 72-percent increase in firearm injuries  between 2018 and 2021.  VDH hopes to add more metrics next year, such as hospitalizations and deaths.  You can see the dashboard at vdh-dot-virginia-dot-gov.
