(Richmond)- Virginians have been getting suspicious phone calls from people claiming to be a trooper or a lieutenant. It has prompted State Police to issue a Scam Alert to residents across the Commonwealth. In most cases, Virginians get a call from an actual VSP phone number that starts with a 276-area code. If you receive a similar call, simply hang up and report it to the Federal Trade Commission online at ftc-dot-gov.
