Health Announces First Presumed Case of Monkeypox In Virginia

(Richmond)- State health officials have discovered the first presumed case of monkeypox in Virginia.  Officials say the Northern Virginia resident recently traveled to Africa and she is currently isolating at home.  According to Virginia Health, the woman didn’t need hospital treatment despite contracting the viral illness.  Monkeypox is commonly transmitted through contact with an infected person or animal, and through intimate contact between two-men.  VDH is asking anyone that is feeling symptoms of monkeypox to please seek further treatment immediately.
