(Blacksburg)- Juneteenth is now an official university holiday at Virginia Tech. It means there will be no classes and a paid holiday for faculty moving forward each year on June 19th. Juneteenth commemorates the date that nearly 250-thousand enslaved people became free in 1865. June 19th became a permanent holiday in Virginia back in 2020.
