Labor Shortage Affecting High School Football

(Richmond)- The nationwide labor shortage could affect local high school football.  The Central Virginia Football Officials Association is dealing with a referee shortage, and that means some games this fall may have to be moved from Friday nights to Thursdays or Saturdays to ensure all games have enough refs.  A CVFOA official says they have never had to move games to Thursday night before, and he also says athletics directors aren’t happy about possibly losing revenue from Friday night ticket sales.  If you’d like to be an official, an information session is scheduled for Saturday morning at Varina High School, and you can get more info at CVFOA.org.
