(Roanoke)- The mayor of Roanoke says he won’t cut ties with the community’s sister city in Russia. Mayor Sherman Lea wrote to Governor Glenn Youngkin, saying he doesn’t believe the invasion of Ukraine warrants ending the partnership between Roanoke and the city of Pskov. While he says he supports the U.S. imposing “strong sanctions” against Russia, Lea doesn’t think it’s worth severing the relationship.
