(DC)- Opportunities for tourists to view DC over the next few days at the Washington Monument are not looking good. That’s because the monument will likely remain closed for most of the week after being struck by lightning more than a week ago. It left the emergency access system severely damaged, and the National Park Service said yesterday that the replacement parts have not arrived to fix the problem. Officials are now hoping to reopen by Thursday.
