(Richmond)- Check your smoke alarms and have an escape plan in a fire at home. Chesterfield and Richmond Fire Departments with that plea after six deaths in the past seven days in separate house fires. Officials say people often forget to check the batteries in their smoke alarms. Check with your local fire department as most have programs to install new smoke alarms for free.
