General Assembly Begins Special Session

(Richmond)- State lawmakers will gather this week to begin a special session of the General Assembly. Governor Northam has spent the last several weeks outlining his plans to allocate more than four-billion-dollars in federal funding. Among other things, he has proposed 250-million-dollars to be matched in local money for air quality improvements in schools. An additional 700-million-dollars for universal broadband access. The session is the first fully in-person session since the pandemic began and its likely to last about a week.
