(Chesterfield)- A name change for a community college in Chesterfield County. A state board yesterday approved renaming John Tyler Community College as Brightpoint Community College. Tyler was the tenth president of the United States, but he was also a slaveholder who supported Virginia’s secession. The name change will take effect next year, and the school’s president says the new name reflects the uplifting and welcoming environment the school strives to create for all.
