Election Officials Replacing Virginia’s Voter System

(Richmond)- State election officials are announcing plans to update Virginia’s election software. This comes after a report found the Virginia Election and Registration Information System isn’t “sufficiently functional or reliable.” The Virginia Mercury reports they’ll fix the problem by replacing the IT system, which could cost between 20- and 29-million dollars. The state is now soliciting bids for the project with plans to award a contract this fall.
