Virginia Ranks Last For Quickly Resolving Issues With Unemployment Insurance Claims

(Richmond)- Virginia ranks last in the country when it comes to resolving problems with unemployment insurance claims.  That’s according to data from the U.S. Department of Labor.  The Virginia Mercury reports the state is at the very bottom of federal rankings for the number of disputed claims reviewed within three weeks.  That number fell from four-point-one percent at the end of last year to two-point-four percent in the first three months of 2021.  The average wait time for claims awaiting appeal is the third-highest in the country, as it is now about 247 days.
