VEC Faces Lawsuit For Allegedly Cutting Off Benefits To Virginians

(Richmond)- The Virginia Employment Commission is facing a lawsuit after residents reported having their benefits cut off. Legal aid groups have warned they plan to sue the commission after residents say they were left jobless and waiting for the VEC to approve their claims. The Legal Aid Justice Center, Legal Aid Works and the Virginia Poverty Law Center filed a class action lawsuit in federal court challenging the abrupt cut-off of benefits and long delays in getting claims approved.
