(Petersburg)- Four campus buildings are being renamed at Virginia State University. The move removes any names associated with slavery or Jim Crow laws. The historically black university’s vice president says the campus environment should reflect the rich history of the VSU story and be a source of pride. One of the buildings is currently named after former Virginia governor and U.S. Senator Harry Byrd, who opposed school integration.
