Virginia To Phase Out Single-Use Plastics

(Richmond)- Virginia is expected to phase out single-use plastic containers. Governor Northam has signed an executive order. In about three months, state agencies will stop buying, selling, and distributing the disposable plastic wares. These include food containers, plastic straws and eating utensils. The order also requires the agencies to develop a Plastic Pollution Reduction Plan to phase out single-use plastics by the end of 2025. It says these plastics pose a threat to fish and wildlife in the Chesapeake Bay.
