(Richmond)- More than 100-million dollars in federal aid is expected in Virginia. That’s because the state is loosening eligibility rules for food stamps. A bill passed the General Assembly last month to open the federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, known as SNAP, for an additional 25-thousand families. Under the new rules, a family of three with an income of just under 44-thousand-dollars or an individual bringing in under 26-thousand-dollars will qualify.
