(DC)- The DC Mayor wants to see legislation on statehood for DC on the fast track to President-Elect Biden’s desk. Mayor Bowser is calling on the 117th Congress to pass legislation to make D.C. the 51st state and have it on Biden’s desk within his first 100 days in office. The mayor says DC has waited for more than 200 years for the chance to become a state. Under the U.S. Constitution, by a simple majority in the House and Senate, Congress can pave the way to add a new state to the Union.
