(Richmond)- The Virginia DMV is seeing an unlikely trend happening this year even though residents are driving less due to the pandemic. There’s been an increase in unbelted fatalities. According to data, there are nearly ten-percent more people that have been killed in crashes this year while not wearing a seat belt. The thinking is, since there have been less drivers on the road, there has been an increase in speeding. With the most recent data, there is about 15-percent of Virginia’s population still not wearing a seatbelt.
