(Richmond)- A Richmond Circuit Court judge is in favor of removing the Robert E. Lee monument. He ruled current public policy takes precedence over the arguments made by the plaintiffs in the case, which stemmed from late 19th century deeds holding the statue perpetually sacred. Governor Northam initially ordered the monument to be taken down in June amid protests. The statue will stay put for now, pending an appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court.
