Judge To Rule Soon On Lee Statue Lawsuit Dismissal Request

(Richmond)- A circuit court judge is expected to make a ruling in coming days over Monument Avenue’s Robert E. Lee monument. Virginia’s solicitor general was at a hearing yesterday to request the dismissal of a lawsuit, which is currently keeping crews from removing the 130-year-old statue at the governor’s order. A group of residents around Monument Avenue says Northam’s order violates the state constitution. The judge says he will make a decision within a week on whether or not to dismiss the case.
