(Loudoun)- Officials in Loudoun County want a Confederate statue gone. That’s the results of the Board of Supervisors vote last night to remove the statue known as the “Silent Sentinel” from outside of the Leesburg Courthouse. The statue, which depicts a young Confederate soldier with a musket, must be removed by September 7th, two months from yesterday. Only one board member opposed the removal. It will be returned to the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
