(Richmond)- Governor Northam is putting pressure on districts to change the names of schools honoring Confederate leaders. The governor sent out a letter yesterday, saying it’s no longer acceptable to name public schools after people who advanced slavery and systemic racism. He called it a civic duty to create welcoming school communities that every child deserves.
