Virginia Beach Mayor Wants Beaches Reopened

(Virginia Beach)- Officials in Virginia Beach want Governor Northam to include opening beaches in Phase One of his reopening plans. Officials say the nearly 30 miles of beaches in the city are vital to the state’s economy. The Virginia Beach mayor said in a letter to the governor that beaches are good for the mental health and relaxation of many people. The Mayor said he would send a safety ambassador to patrol the beaches and step up the cleaning of facilities in the area. Virginia is currently under a stay-at-home order until June 10th.
