(Richmond)- Governor Northam is seeking the early release of inmates in the state amid the coronavirus. Northam is looking to release prisoners with one year or less remaining on their sentences. The General Assembly would have to approve the amendment at its upcoming session on April 22nd. The Governor said inmates must have good behavior to qualify and they cannot be a threat to the public. Northam said he is still working on further logistics of the plan.
