(DC)- Go-Go music is the official genre of DC. Yesterday, Mayor Muriel Bowser signed a bill into law that made the genre the official music of the city. She expressed the cultural importance of the bill saying the genre was birthed in the city and needs to be celebrated for generations to come. Go-Go promoter and peace activist Ron Moten said the bill shows the social power of music and how people can come together to do the right things for the right reasons. A celebration took place at Culture House DC in Southwest after the bill was signed into law.
