Virginia Lawmakers Reject Assault Weapons Ban

(Richmond)- Lawmakers in Virginia announced they are not banning the sale of assault style weapons after some Democrats balked at the proposal.  Senators voted to table the bill amid an investigation conducted by the state crime commission on the issue.  Four Democrats along with Republicans voted yesterday to reject a bill that would ban the sale of certain semiautomatic guns.  Gun advocates were happy to hear the result and Governor Ralph Northam expressed his disappointment but vows to push the measure.  The Senate and the House already have other gun-control bills being pushed that should become final soon.
