Senate Passes Bill To Remove Photo ID Voting Requirement

(Richmond)-A photo ID requirement may soon be out the door for Virginia voters.  The state Senate approved a bill along party lines yesterday that will allow voters to have additional options to identify themselves.  Those include a paycheck, copy of a utility bill, and a voter registration confirmation document.  Those without an ID can sign a statement verifying identity.  The bill’s sponsor, Hampton Democrat Mamie Locke, said voting is a fundamental right that should be available to all voters.
