Virginia Joins Lawsuit For ERA Ratification

(Richmond)- Virginia is joining a lawsuit over the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.  This week, the commonwealth became the 38th state to ratify the measure, which ensures equal rights regardless of sex.  The Justice Department says the ratification deadline was a long time ago, so the proposal’s passage in Virginia is too late.  Attorney General Mark Herring joined others from Illinois and Nevada in the federal lawsuit.
