White Cherry Blossoms Blooming Early

(DC)-  Officials in D-C say there are some cherry blossoms blooming along the Washington Monument and the Tidal Basin due to the recent warm temperatures.  These Higan cherry trees have white blossoms and are not to be confused with the tourist attraction, Yoshino cherry trees, which have pink blossoms.  The National Park Service says its not uncommon for the Higan trees in D-C to bloom in the winter, but the Yoshino trees have no sign of budding.  Peak bloom has been earlier each year over the past decade due to global warming.
