Virginia Soldier Killed in Afghanistan Roadside Bombing

(Newport News)- Officials say one of the two soldiers killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan on Saturday was from Newport News. Staff Sargent Ian McLaughlin died when his vehicle hit an explosive device. The two 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers were conducting a NATO Resolute Support Mission.  McLaughlin was 29  and is survived by his wife and four children.
