Dominion Energy Unveils Plan To Remove Coal Ash

(Chesterfield)- Details are coming out on Dominion Energy’s plan to remove coal ash in Chesterfield County.  More than half of the state’s 27 million cubic yards of coal ash is buried close to the Henricus Historical Park bordering the James River.  The Richmond Times-Dispatch says Dominion is proposing to transport the ash using a road that accesses the park.  County officials are expected to work with the company on finding an alternate public route to the park and relocating the boat ramp, which may cost at least 50-million-dollars.  The removal of coal ash isn’t expected to be completed until 2033.
