UVA Raises Minimum Wage For Contract Employees

(Charlottesville)- Minimum wage is going up for contract employees at the University of Virginia. UVA President Jim Ryan says employees working in areas like food service, environmental service and janitorial duties will be paid at least the new minimum of 15-dollars-an-hour beginning January 1st. That now equals the same minimum wage for most university employees. Ryan says jobs and wages are the most important issues in the community.
