(Fairfax)- A Fairfax police officer who detained a driver to turn over to immigration officials is returning to full duty tomorrow. The officer was initially suspended for breaking the department’s policy that prohibits detaining individuals for civil violations of immigration law. The incident stemmed from a crash investigation where he found one driver was wanted for failing to appear at a deportation hearing. The Fairfax Police Chief says he has confidence the officer will represent the department well moving forward.
