DC Street Renamed To Honor NASA Mathematicians

(DC)- A DC street is being renamed to honor three black women who played a big role in the country’s space program. The block in front of NASA headquarters in Southwest, DC has been renamed Hidden Figures Way to honor Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. The three mathematicians played key roles in NASA’s space program in the 1960s during a time of segregation and discrimination. The new street name was unveiled during a ceremony . The women’s story has been immortalized in the “Hidden Figures” book and film.
